Inuri’s Guide to the Basic Melee Character
Smash to start the battle, Counter to follow up a powerful hit, Defense to block the enemy’s attempt at fighting back, and follow up with a few blows from the sword.
Inuri’s Guide to the Basic Melee Character
What to Start with
Snag a 50,000 Gold money bag. This is one thing every person should lug around. Fill the bag up and put a few zeros into your bank. I’m going to go from affordable to expensive, top of the line brand armors and weapons, so it’s your choice where you want to hang.
Alright- I’ll give you a few options:
- 1. Sword/Hammer and Shield 2. Anything
- 1. Sword/Hammer and Shield 2. Sword/Hammer and Shield
- 1. 2Handed Sword 2. Anything
- 1. 2Handed Sword 2. Sword/Hammer and Shield
1. Means first weapon, 2. means secondary.
Personally, I prefer the last option. Now, that’s what I’m going to focus on. But for all you other people-
First option is a sword and shield combo. Depending on which skills you use, choose round shield or kite shield. Kite shields are for defense skill activators, round shields are for those people that depend on the shield for all the work.
The second option is… not a good idea. Two of them? Maybe get a Sword and Shield first, then a sword alone for secondary.
The third option- it’s nice, but you’re lacking the defense and ability to switch out quickly to a more desirable weapon.
So I have Cash- What do I buy?
Nao service users can, first off, always buy clothes if they have dependable accessories.
Budget ranges:
- Low: Bastard Sword/ Broad Sword/ Warhammer with a Round Shield, a clothing set and maybe a robe
- Medium: Bastard Sword/ Broad Sword with Kite Shield/ Round Shield and/or 2Hander with a simple leather armor (Nao Accessory if possible)
- Wealthy: Claymore with a secondary Bastard/ Broad Sword and Kite shield or Round shield and some high quality armor (Holy Moon, Arish, etc.) Nao Accessories can’t be used with heavy armor.
If you’d like, Style your armor with fixed dyes. Remember, random dyes only work on cloth surfaces. On Arish armor, the pants and arms are cloth, the armor is only fixed dye changed.
So I have my Equips- Any Strategy to Give me?
Yeah, of course I have a strategy. Message Inuri and give him all your equips!… if only it were that simple.
So you have many choices, but I’m gonna explain every single offensive melee skill released so far, with the exception of defense, which isn’t offensive, but is included (Final hit is a no-no. AP Waster.)
Smash- A personal favorite of mine. Rank 6 is the cap now, but that deals a whopping 330% Damage to start of a battle. Quite the head start. At rank 5, You deal splash damage, too! It’s quite puny damage comparatively, but this skill is a GREAT way to start off a battle.
Windmill- Impressive area attack. Imagine 3 monsters coming in, Multi-Aggroed. The damage is nothing like smash, but at rank 6, 190% to each of the three monsters is… wow! A crazy 570% Damage dealt in total! And you only suffer a small 10% Health penalty. Believe me, this is a life saver.
Counter- Not worth ranking, although popular. Rank 6 Deals 150% Damage from the opponent’s rebound plus an extra 125% blow. (The critical is a nice touch.) It does chew on your AP slightly, but the purpose is served, Rank F or Rank 1. The opponent is knocked down, you have a chance to load a skill or heal quickly, and it even adds bonus. Cap this skill early, for the purpose is served no matter what. However, some people raise it. Not that bad, either.
Defense- Oh man. If this skill didn’t exist, how would we deal with archers? Each rank provides base defense. Rank 6 adds 42 defense extra when activated, 15% Protection, and the skill ranks up with a nice HP Bonus. This skill is a life saver, but in my opinion, Rank F does the same as Rank 1, other than blocking a little more. Keep this at a lower rank.
Note to the readers: Someone asked me what the Shield issue was. Well, when you activate DEFENSE skill, you get a defense boost. That’s what protects you. For Round shield, the defense boost is minimal, for the defense boost is the shield itself. For Kite shield, it’s not naturally powerful as a round, but the defense bonus during the skill is a whopper that overpowers many attacks. I hope you understand now.
