A good guide to use to get to lvl 30 FAST
Introduction
Hello fellow maplers! First of all this is my first guide so I will make many errors so if you can help me to edit it and make it as good as you can make it, i would greatly appreciate it.
Now, this guide is for right now, to help your warrior to get to lvl 30 as fast as possible! Soon however i will try to make it the COMPLETE guide to everything you will ever need to know about warriors! However this will take me some time…so wait for it, and you wont be disappointed. For now, my guide will cover the basics and give you a bunch of helpful mapling tips. I hope to make this the best guide out there. So before we begin i would like to introduce my self.
In maplestory I play in Scania with a character called Megafierice (please contact me only if you have a question that is not covered in this guide). If you were to look me up in the ranks you would be surprised to find that I am not that high lvl. Oh, well. You might wander why take advice from this “n00b” and may think…why is a mage writing a warrior guide? The answer would be that I have researched the warrior thoroughly and tried out my ideas (and my friends have helped as well.) to see if they work, and so far they have! And now lets begin the guide! =). NOTE: This guide begins for beginners. However if you are funded and already know the basics of a warrior (stat distribution and where and how to distribute AP points. please skip ahead to the articles that read “For the Funded Warrior!” This part of the guide will help out those of you that have enough mesos to support your warrior and give him GODLY stuff.
What is Maplestory
Please note that the following section is for people completely new to playing maplestory. If you have already made/played another character, then skip this part unless you don’t know what MapleStory is. Right so if this is your first time playing maplestory I first want to tell you a little about maple story. You may be wondering questions such as “Is the game fun?” “Is it easy to level?” and “What the heck will I do in this game?”. So I will tell you right now a summary about what you will do in maple story. First of all maplestory is a MMORPG (massive multiplayer online Role playing game), so yes, in Maplestory you will encounter tonnes of people you probably wont know. But its okay, I would say 95% of them are nice. Secondly, Maplestory has only two objectives to it.
(1) training your character so that it can level (no point to it, since maplestory follows no storyline)
(2) make new friends. Most people seem to like Maplestory more because of objective #2 than objective #1. That is because after a certain level, training is GRUELING and difficult and most people quit during the hard levels (by the way most people quit around 4X) but if you struggle past the 4Xs you will become so strong, training will be so much fun! The last thing I want to tell you about maplestory is that the monsters most of the time look cute and harmless (although as you get to the 8X the enemies become HUGE and threatening), and most of the time your objective will be to kill as many of those enemies so that you can lvl and move on to the next set of monsters to kill. Sounds boring? Its not. Its addicting as a matter of fact. So be prepared to be on the computer quite a bit. Also there are four classes that you can choose from, and you will use your classes skills, to help train your character. So that is basically what maplestory is.
Creating Your Character
Okay, so if you are still interested on playing maplestory (who wouldn’t?) I want to tell you how to make your character. First of all make sure you have registered your acc. and that you remember your Password and Login ID (if you don’t, your screwed =(). So the first thing the game will ask you is your gender (or is it your pin? haven’t done this in a while). Next it will give you the users term of agreement. Please read it carefully and then accept the terms if your willing…OKAY most people don’t read it and I wont blame you because its SOOOO long. so i will summarize what the user agreement says. NO HACKING- Basically using outside programs to cheat on the game Maplestory. DON’T HACK! Its not fun and it ruins the game for everyone. So what kind of hacks are there? I will list them down here: Fly Hack-you use this hack to fly around the game and you can go anywhere you want. Really dumb hack if you ask me. God Mode-This hack allows your character to have infinite health or makes all the monsters miss your character. VERY EASY HACK TO NOTICE! Vac Hack-This hack brings all of the monsters from the map to one center spot. There the hacker will kill them probably using the hack God Mode and the Fly Hack, so that he can fly away if he sees someone coming. WARNING: Being in the same map as a hacker and even looting a hacker can get you banned (or blocked from the game)! This is utterly unfair but it can get you banned. (even I didn’t know that you could get banned for being on the same room as a hacker, and I have looted them many times before 0_o) Scamming-Scamming is not a hack. Its tricking someone into giving them a good item in exchange of some crappy item. NOTE that its TRICKING them. Also there is this “game” called the Drop Game where people drop their items to show them off. Unfortunately people who play the Drop Game usually have a 2nd person to help them scam you who are out of sight and when you drop your item, they come and get it. So don’t EVER play this game. No glitch PQING-This got fixed but if there was another glitch in the future do not participate on it as it can get you banned! Okay, I think thats all in the user agreement. So finally you will have to come up with a pin. Make sure its not predictable (use random numbers) but be sure you can remember it! So after that, the game will take you into a screen with this bridge looking thing that has a bunch of names like Scania and Bera (these are called worlds and servers. Now, choose whichever you want but please note that Scania has the most people and Kradia has the least. Also note that once you chose a server, you have to stay there (unless you are willing to spend $25 on a world change), and for example, your friend makes a character in Broa but your character is in Bera. NO, you wont be able to talk to your friend since he is in another server, so please keep this in mind. So after choosing your server, there will be three boards that say “create character”, “choose character” and “erase character”. So you will chose the “create character” option. It will let you customize your character give it a name. DON’T PRESS OKAY! YOU STILL HAVE TO ROLL THE DICE ACCORDING TO WHAT CLASS YOU WILL BE.
The Four Classes
Before you click PLAY on maplestory YOU MUST READ THIS PART! Why? Because at the beginning of the game when you create your character you will see this dice thing and a bunch of stats. You must roll this dice until you get the stats according to your class. Now, before I tell you the stats your warrior should have, i will tell you a bit of the pros and cons of the four maplestory classes, as well with a slight description. NOTE: as you progress through the game you will learn that a job advancement is what makes you become stronger and have more skills (techniques that will help you out, some more than others). So far there are 3 job advancements.
Warrior
Warriors use a bunch of weapons including Blunt Weapons (BW) and swords! They specialize on close combat and have HUGE HP.
- Pros:
-Good hp
-Easy to train at early lvls
-cool equips later
-nice skills at their 3rd job advancement
-good defense
- Cons
-low mp
-suck at flying enemies
-bad equips at the begining
-expensive items
-get ksed all the time
-Train slowly from 20-70
Mages
Mages use their knowledge to cast magical attacks that will help them kill monsters. They rely more on Mp than HP.
- Pros
-High mp
-good damage at the start (debatable)
-get magic guard (makes them basically invincible at later levels)
-good at close and far combat
-NEEDED for Party Quests (PQ)
- Cons
-LOW hp
-bad defense
-use lots of MP pots which are more expensive than HP pots
Hunter
Archers use dex to hit enemies. They shoot arrows (DUH!) and have skills that can help with their accuracy and avoid.
- Pros
-get critical hit often
-good distance
-Balanced hp and mp
-have good avoid
- Cons
-have to stock up on arrows
-at first job adv they SUCK at mobs
-early weapons have bad knock-back rate
-unbalanced damage
Xbowmen
- Pros
- Cons
Thieves - have a close range 2nd job advancement and a long range, choose accordingly
Assassins
- Pros
-get good 3rd job skills
-jump-shot
-have good range
-balanced HP and MP
- Cons
-very expensive to buy stars
-expensive scrolls
-costs to “recharge” your stars
-very common (hard to find a nice training spot for your sin)
Bandits
- Pros
-cool 3rd job skills
-fast attacks
-cool blades
-can show-off with savage blow
- Cons
-get ksed at 2nd job
-bad skills at 1st job
Super Noob-this is an unofficial class. This is basically someone who doesn’t chose a job and continues leveling that way.
- Pros
-easy to be one of the best in your server
-can use some dumb weapons (its funny)
- Cons
-no skills
-bad stats
-bad equips
-need careful planning
-need funding
-boring after a while
So if you haven’t considered trying out any of the other classes, Warriors need Strength and a little bit of DEX. As a warrior you don’t need INT or LUK. Keep in mind that STR gives you more hp and Dex will raise your minimum damage and lets you hit more enemies. So roll the dice at the bottom until you get something that looks like this:
STR-any number (best if its the highest number)
Dex-any number
Int-4/5
Luk-4/5
Make sure that both Int and Luk have 4 or 5. It doesn’t REALLY matter although it is said that at later levels it might hurt you a bit, so try to get Int and luk as low as possible! Once you have done this, you are now in Maple Island!
Basic Controls
Well, I wont spend a lot of time here, seeing as how there is now a tutorial, but it will certainly help new people. First of all to press the \ (not /)button on your keyboard to manually configure your skill points. Make sure the keyboard configuration fits your playing style. To bring up the buddy screen, remember to press R. OKAY! So that does it for the lame-o introduction to maplestory…from now on its all fun and games!
Beginner Skills and Stats
Congratulations. You just made your character and are beginning to play maplestory. Hit snails until you level and guess what? You can put 1 skill point into three different “Beginner Basics” skills. And you also can put 5 points into your AP. Now… first of all you need to get familiar with this…as a beginning warrior you need a basic mix of STR and DEX. And every time you lvl you get 5 AP points…but where do you put them? Well, until you get to lvl 30, your DEX should be twice your lvl! So lets say at lvl 1 you start out with STR 9 DEX 6 and INT and LUK at 4. When you level up you would put ALL your AP points into STR. But once you level to level 4 put in two points of DEX and the rest into STR.
That way your DEX at lvl 4 will be 8. But must you put DEX every time you level? I would say yes…although it would be something like this…You are right now level 21. You don’t get new equips until lvl 25(you need DEX to equip new equips!) So instead of putting 2 DEX you might consider putting only 1DEX and the rest into STR. The reason? The more STR you have…the more hp (please make sure you can hit everything you are training or are going to be training on 100% before skipping a DEX point, as DEX helps you hit stuff!). So I would recommend doing this not too often because lets say you did this from lvl 21-24. So when you lvl to 25 you have lost 4 points of DEX and OOPS you need 2 points of DEX on this lvl…thats 6 AP points! Too bad… you will have to put all your points on DEX and at lvl 26 you will also have to put 3 points into DEX…and you have lost 4 points of STR during those 2 levels! So i would only do it once every 5 levels or so! Of course you could always scroll something…but who spends 1.2M on lvl 21 clothes?!?! Right, so now that you know how to spend your AP points which skill is worth it? Well, none of these are extremely useful, but Nimble Feet and Recovery
Beginner Skills: Three Snails- Max lvl 3-Use red snails to do 40 damage. BIG WOOP! It used to be that this attack couldn’t miss but it got patched so now you CAN miss…so this skill just plain SUCKS! Helps kill Orange Mushrooms, but it becomes useless the instant you become a warrior. DO NOT TOUCH this skill!
Recovery- Max lvl 3-recover 72 HP over 30 seconds! Helps a bit, because you can move around (and continue beating up monsters) while healing. Saves a few pots when grinding for a long time. Max it.
Nimble Feet-Max lvl 3-Boosts your speed by 20% for 12 seconds! Great when you need to get somewhere quickly, such as the ship to Orbis.
So how do you distribute your beginner points?
Level 1-3: +1 on Recovery
Level 4-7: +1 on Nimble Feet
Why this build? Like stated above, Recovery works while you’re fighting (unlike the warrior healing ability, where you have to stand still, you might as well be sitting on The Relaxer) and Nimble Feet might help later when you need to get somewhere fast, like the Orbis ship.
Maple Island
Okay…so this is where you begin to play Maplestory. Here on Maple Island basic enemies reside, tormenting….you the beginner. Now first of all let me tell you, Maple Island is the most BORING part of playing Maplestory. But dont worry, it gets fun AFTER you get your job…unfortunately this takes a while. Why? Because you either train on snails (the most boring enemy ever) or Mushrooms (the HARDEST enemy…for now). Like stated before only weak enemies live here…unfortunately you’re weak too. Just keep hitting every monster until you lvl! Oh! and be sure to do ALL of the quests here. Why? Because once you leave Maple Island, you can’t EVER go back. Be sure to get The Relaxer here. It saves LOTS on pots. =P.
Victoria Island
Once you are lvl 10 you are ready to go to Victoria Island (head over to SouthPerry Port and buy a ticket for 150mesos to go to Lith Harbor). CONGRATULATIONS! You just passed the most boring part of the game. Be sure not to kill any monster so that you dont lvl! If you accidently get to lvl 11 before you become a warrior, you will miss out on 3 skill points. And no, you cant make it up! First of all in Victoria you will arrive in a place called Lith Harbor. Before you leave and head for Perion (where you will become a warrior) talk to an npc that looks like a viking. He will quiz you and then give you a test to talk to Dances w.t Balrog (the dude who makes you a warrior). After you complete the quiz, go over to the left and find a place where it says tickets (DONT TAKE THE VIP CAB!), and buy a ticket to Perion (the dude at the ticket stand will also tell you a little bit about each town! YAY! I dont have to explain that! =)), or if you cant afford it walk there. Once you reach Perion head to the top of the map and enter the portal there. Talk to Dances W.T Balrog (from here on end BWB). Please note you must have at least 35 STR (shouldnt be a problem if you followed this guide). He will talk about a bunch of things and finally tell you you are now a WARRIOR! He is also nice enough *cough* *cough* that he gives you 1 free skill point!
Life as a Warrior
Once you become a warrior you will notice something. Your hp just doubled! (it should be around 400). Now…you still have that 1 skill point and a bunch of skills…but what exactly do they do? And which are worth it? Im here to help! NOTE: Skills with the blue dot mean that they have a requirement. This means that before you can put skill points on that skill you must have put some skill points on another skill. Take for example Improving HP. Before you can put any skill points into it, the requirement is at least 5 skill points n Hp Recovery. So until HP recovery has 5 skill points, you CANT put any into Improving HP. Got it?
Skills
Improving HP Recovery
Master Level: 16
Sounds the same as the noob skill, but this one is passive, meaning you dont have to press a button to activate it. You do, however, have to stand still. Pots are better.
Improving MaxHP Increase
Master Level 10
- Requires Level 5 on Hp recovery
This skill ROCKS! This skill BOOSTS your already high HP makin the warrior have more STAMINA! MAX ASAP!
Endure
Master Level:8
- Requires Level 3 on Improving Max HP
Uh…only good if your afk or if you are somewhere where there are no safe spots. MEH. You wont use this much ><.
Iron Body
Master Level:20
- Requires Level 3 on Endure*
-Good as a beginning skill…but later on REALLY WORTHLESS +40 wpn def. BIG WOOP.
Power Strike
Master Level:20
YAY! An attacking skill! Good skill! MAKES YOUR MAX DAMAGE ALMOST TRIPLE! MAX IT OUT!
Slash Blast
Master Level:20
- 1 on Power Strike
-A mob skill! What do you think? WORTH the slight HP loss =P.
Okay, there are many different builds you can take and I will list them here!
Skill Builds
My Build (recommended)
Put your 1 skill point on Improving HP Recovery.
level 11 +3 on Improving HP Recovery
level 12 +1 Improving HP recovery, +2 Improving Max HP Increase
level 13-14 +3 Improving Max HP Increase
level 15 +2 Improving Max HP Increase(MAX), +1 Power Strike
level 16-21 +3 on Power Strike(PS)/or if you want to mob Slash Blast (SB)
level 22 If you went with PS first +1 on PS (MAX) +2 SB/ or if you went with SB first +2 SB (MAX) +1 Power Strike
level 23-28 +3 Power Strike/Slash Blast (MAX)
level 29 +3 Endure/Improving HP Recovery
level 30 +3 Iron Body/Improving HP Recovery
Chose whether you want Improving HP Recovery or Iron Body. Which skills you chose on the last 2 levels of a warrior affect how well you will do on your 2nd job adv. Fighters will usually go with +3 Endure and +3 Iron Body. Why? Because one of their 2nd job skills lowers their DEF. so Iron Body mostly negates this penalty. If you were to chose spearman, I would say take HP Recovery, seeing as Dragon Knight (3rd job adv) skills take up HP to use…But thats just a personal opinion. And what would a page do? I would go with Endure and Iron Body.
Although for a page, it does not really matter. Why not another +3 on endure? Because…how often are you gonna just stay on a rope waiting for your HP to recover!? Better if you use a potion. Also keep in mind, warriors start out good until lvl 16 where other classes become better. Thankfully after a while this becomes untrue as the warrior begins to catch up!
Where to Train (Unfunded)
Right, so you know how to distribute your skills, but where do you train? Here is not only a list of where to train but it also tells you of BAD places to train and gives you a list of which pots to use and which armors to skip and which to buy.
LvL 10-15
Slimes at the The Tree that Grew at Ellinia. Why? Good spawn and mostly deserted!
Potions(Pots): Relaxer (The green sitting chair)
Armor: Keep your beginner armor, dont buy the “new” warrior one, because its just a waste of mesos. Just buy yourself a weapon.
(Wondering which one? check out the WvW part of this guide!)
Ultimate Enemy: Green Mushroom
LvL 16-20
Pigs Either at Pig Beach (go to the forked path near Lith Harbour
and walk until you see some patch of flowers. Click up there and there
you go! PIGS GALLORE!) or The Rainforest East of Hen. Why? Good spawn
and can party ALOT and make good friends here!
Potions: White Pots and Blue Pots
Armor: SKIP IT! Just get the shield by doing Fixing Blackbull’s House quest.
You get a FREE shield, so buy yourself a 1 handed sword!
Ultimate Enemie: Dark Axe Stump
(The shield will be either lvl 15 or lvl 25. If u get the lvl 25 buy the lvl 15)
LvL21-25
Octopuses and Green Mushrooms at Construction Site
(the one to the left of Kerning). Why? If you alternate
from going to the Green Mushies and to the top for the
Octopuses you get AWESOME spawn. You could (should) party
someone. You cover the Mushrooms while they cover the octopuses
(or the other way around!)
Pots: While hotdogs would be ideal, stick to white potions.
Armor: Buy a BLUE KENDO! Also remember to NPC your shield and choose a weapon of your choice.
Buy a Helmet if you want.
KPQ: COOL! Kerning City Party Quest! This is a VERY fun way to train.
As a Warrior you might not be the most popular choice (warriors kinda suck
from lvl 20-30 compared to other classes), but eventually you will get
into a party and enjoy! The exp isn’t GREAT but its REALLY fun. Try it out!
Ultimate Enemy: Jr. Necki
level 26-30
Horny Mushrooms and Zombie Mushrooms at
Sleepywood. You can also try (until lvl 27) Horny Mushrooms
and Green Mushrooms at Ellinia Tree Dungeon up North 2. Once you
are level 29 go on to the Zombie Mushrooms! You can still KPQ all
the way to lvl 30 if you wish. Or at lvl 29ish head over to wild boars!
Pots: Watermelon and Unagi
Armor: Dark master sergeant and kilt. Buy yourself a weapon of your choice. Either buy or acquire (from the KPQ) the Blue Bamboo Hat. Why? It gives you +3 STR! You don’t need another hat until lvl 60!
Ultimate Enemie: Leatty
Places not to Train:
level 10-15 Dark Stumps Why? 7-12 KO for 15 exp while slime is at most 3 KO for 10 exp!
level 16-20 Dark Axe Stumps Why? Very sturdy. Very HARD to kill! Skip ‘em!
level 21-25 Jr Neckis Why? High avoidability! YOU WONT HIT!
level 26-30 Jr Sentinels Why? High W.DEF. Very hard for every class except warriors!
If you follow each training place you should be lvl 30 in about a week! If you play A LOT it should be in about 5 days! Not bad, for an unfunded! =). The next portion of the guide is dedicated to Funded warriors. Skip ahead to the “unfunded AFTER level 30″ part!(2 be posted soon)
Funded Warrior Vs Unfunded Warrior
So if you just began playing Maplestory and you read training (unfunded) you may be wondering what that means. You may also be wondering what it means to be funded. Well, a funded warrior is one that already has another character, say a lvl 71 hermit whose IGN is John. Now lets say John the hermit realizes he messed up his hermit. OOPS! But he still wants to play maplestory, and he has 40M on his hermit. Now lets say John decides to make a warrior. Seeing that he has 40M (mesos the currency of maplestory), he decides that he can make a “dexless” warrior. What this means is that John will try to put as little DEX as possible so that his character has more STR. But you need DEX! you might be thinking. Yes but since John has mesos, he can scroll his items so that they give him DEX. This way John’s char will do more damage than most average. unfunded warriors. Sorry, but thats just the way it is.
How Funded are You?
This section of the guide is to find out just which part of the guide you are to follow (assuming you are funded). I have classified “funded warriors” into 3 categories, each based on how many mesos you are willing to spend on your noob warrior. Ultimately your funds will determine how much HP and damage your warrior has and does.
Low Funds-Low funded warriors have around this much mesos under their disposal 100k-5M.Most funded warriors fall under this category.
Medium Funds-6M-149M Warriors on this category are well funded…too bad its not enough for a ZHELM =(
High Funds- 150M-2Bil Yeah, you can keep your base REAL LOW!
Low Funds Guide
So you have some funding. You probably have a good idea on how maplestory works. So you dont need to do the begginer quests. Even at lvl 1 I recommend you head over to Vicotria. Why? Two things. The first being you cant access your storage or anyone in Victoria
